Police investigating homicide in Abbeville

Abbeville Police are investigating a homicide in the city.

Police say that officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Dutel Street around 10:25 pm on Sunday, May 3.

According to a release, once officers arrived, a male victim was located inside of a vehicle. The victim had been shot.

The victim, identified as 29-year-old James Jerome Darby of Abbeville, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Vermilion Parish Coroner’s Office.

Police say an investigation is ongoing.

No other details are being released at this time.
