The Hub City Hunter Jumper Association hosted a show today in Maurice.

The Hearts and Horses Show featured local kids competing in hunting and jumping divisions. The event was held at Cambridge Stables in Maurice.

"We just enjoy the children and the horses. I love the sport, I love children and I love the horses, and it's really fun to watch it all come together and to watch them be successful. And the team camaraderie, with the other barns and the other riders, it's just really fun to watch," said Trish Rabalais of Cambridge Stables.

According to the U.S. Hunter Jumper Association, hunting competitions judge a horse's performance over fences and its movement on flat ground. Jumping judges the horse's athletic ability over fences as measured by time. A third division, equitation, judges the rider's abilities riding their horse on the course.

The Hub City group has competitions planned in April, May, July, September and December, with an end-of-season awards show in January 2021. To read about the group, click here.
