Representatives from federal, state and local offices were on hand today to help veterans at an Abbeville workshop.
People from the office of U.S. Rep. Clay Higgins, the Louisiana Attorney General's Office, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, the Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs, UL's Veterans Upward Bound and the Louisiana Workforce Commission were there.
Among the services offered were assistance in singing up for heathcare or medical benefits; filing or checking the status of a disability claim; registering for job search services; and learning about pending legislation that affects vets.
"It supports the veterans from today and tomorrow, so they wouldn't be scared to go to these events," said Ronald Gaspard, a veteran. "It's showing that there's support. We're here to help you and find out what you need to find out."
