Duson man accused of robbing Abbeville business

Police in Abbeville have arrested a man in connection with a Christmas Eve armed robbery of a local business.

Shatravin Hamilton of Duson has been identified as the suspect in an armed robbery of an Abbeville Gamestop on Veteran's Memorial Drive. Police say that Hamilton was seen running from the location minutes before they received the call at around 6:30 pm on December 24, of an armed robbery. An off-duty officer was able to provide a description.

Patrol officers were able to use the description to locate Hamilton and detain him. Police say he was in possession of a concealed handgun, which he said was his, but did not have a concealed carry permit. Detective determined that the Hamilton was the suspect in the robbery and he was arrested.

Hamilton was subsequently charged with Armed Robbery with a Firearm and Illegal Carrying of Weapons and transported to the Vermilion Parish Correctional Center. Bond was set at $155,000.

An investigation is ongoing.
