KAPLAN, La — Celebrations are underway in Kaplan to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
The theme for this year's celebrations is "rise up be the change."
"Change starts with us in spite of the struggles and our situations we can still rise up and change and we can still have hope," said Marceite Hopkins with New Beginnings Baptist Church.
A food drive was held and volunteers cleaned the streets of the city.
