Ahead of a march and peace rally on Saturday in Abbeville, two local churches were out cleaning the streets.

Members of the St. Mary Magdalen Church in Abbeville and Freedom World Ministries began cleanup at 9:00 a.m. to get ready for Saturday.

They began their march to clean up at the corner of Martin Luther King and Joiner streets, picking up trash and meeting with residents along the way.

Their goal is to make Abbeville a more positive place to live.

"We are trying to merge not only people from different walks of life--Black, White, Hispanics, business owners, those that feel left out and less fortunate. We are trying to wake up the masses to the love that's missing in the city and bridge it and bring it back," said Lawrence Levy, Pastor of Freedom World Ministries.

The March and Rally will be held on Saturday, June 13 at 9:00 am. It will begin at the Mt Pleasant Green Baptist Church in Abbeville and end at the Christian Service Center on Chevis Street. Those wishing to participate are asked to arrive by 8:30 a.m.

Levy is encouraging the community to attend.
