The Louisiana Cattle Festival held a fundraiser Wednesday to help keep the organization afloat amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Volunteers sold plate lunches of jambalaya and those were able to picked up at The Red Barn in Abbeville today.

Organizers say the coronavirus is putting a major dent in their budget, and that they're doing everything they can to keep their festival alive.

"Because of the response, we're really excited about looking forward to possibly doing another one," explained Francis Plaisance, President of the Louisiana Cattle Association. "It would be nice if we get our finances in good position for next year because hopefully the COVID virus will be kind of under control by then. And we can go back to having festivals in Louisiana - not just us, but all over the state."

The Cattle Festival was canceled in April for the first time in its 72-year history.
