Tommy Byler sat in his first meeting at Vermilion Parish School Board Superintendent Thursday night.
Last week, the school board selected Byler for the position.
With school starting up next week, Byler says it seems everyone is ready to look forward.
"I'm pleased that the board has put their support behind me, so I'm happy with the results of tonight's meeting. I thought the discussions were good. Our government system is built on quality discussion, and it's okay to disagree on things, but let's do it in a professional manner," said Byler. "Tonight I felt like we took steps toward the future of Vermilion Parish."
