ABBEVILLE, La. - During Thursday night's meeting the Vermilion Parish School Board approved hazard pay for essential workers.

On motion of Dr. David Dupuis, seconded by Laura LeBeouf and carried unanimously, the Board approved hazard pay to incentivize essential workers who carried out vital operations during the COVID-19 closure.

The estimated $55,000 will be split between support personnel like maintenance workers, cafeteria techs, bookkeepers, custodians and payroll, according to James B. Prudhomme, Vermilion Parish Superintendent.
