UPDATE: Power has been restored in Kaplan.

Mayor Mike Kloesel updated that residents' power should be coming back online, after a blown transformer caused the entire city to be without electricity.

Kloesel thanked Kaplan citizens for their patience and gave a "special thanks to all the people working late and in the rain to make it happen."

ORIGINAL STORY: A main electrical transformer for the City of Kaplan has blown, causing an outage.

Mayor Mike Kloesel says that the transformer as well as several switches have blown. A timeline to restoration is not known.

"We are asking for your patience, more than likely this is not going to be a quick fix but rest assured that we are doing everything in our power to get electricity back up and running," Mayor Mike Kloesel said.

Kloesel says the transformer that has blown belongs to Entergy and feeds the City of Kaplan. They will update as more information becomes available.

The Kaplan Police Department is also reporting the power outage in the area of their station. They say that the outage has caused their office phone lines to go out. Anyone needing emergency services are asked to call 911.
