KAPLAN, La. — An arrest warrant has been issued for former Kaplan Police Chief Boyd Adams.

The warrant was issued after Adams did not appear in court Monday. Adam's lawyer was in the Vermilion Parish courtroom representing his client.

The Abbeville Meridional is reporting that Judge Ed Broussard issued the warrant for Adam's arrest, because he was not in the courtroom.

Adams was arrested in September of 2017 for theft over $5,000 and Malfeasance in Office.

His arrest came after State Police discovered that Adams was unable to provide receipts or records documenting his use of over $19,000 of department funds.

Detectives says he spent nearly $7,000 on personal expenses.

Auditors found a city bank account two years prior to his arrest with adams being the only authorized user.
