Residents in Abbeville gathered Saturday afternoon for a Juneteenth celebration at a city park.
The event included guest speakers, yard games, and a basketball tournament. All residents were invited to attend.
Speakers included Leandra Boudreaux and Donnie Bolden, Jr.
Attendees could also register to vote while at the event.
Organizer Scarlett Brown said of the event, "We wanted to get together and do a Juneteenth celebration and bring awareness to what it's all about. As a kid I remember attending field day for Juneteenth and I wanted to bring that back to the community and give that to our kids."
