Mostly sunny skies return to Acadiana as September, as it typically does, gets off to a hot start with temperatures sitting in the low to mid 90s the next several days.

The dewpoints will be sticking in the upper 70s once again which will put the heat index in the triple digit range, prompting a Heat Advisory for portions of the state still without power.

This kind of heat, while we're certainly used to it, should be taken seriously especially those who will be out working in the heat.

Rain chances remain minimal through the remainder of the week and by the weekend we may see a return of some of those scattered showers coming back to the area.

While it's always nice to get excited about cooler weather arriving in the fall, the truth is fall rarely starts here until about late September, so the heat will be factor for at least another week or two.
