The talk of the town is the upcoming cold front, for good reason, it's been a long summer and most of us can use a break from the heat.

In all the talk of the front though let's not forget we've got several days we've got to get through first before we see a pattern flip.

This means temperatures will be back up in the mid 90s, and the heat index likely moving to around 100 in the afternoon.

That's enough heat mixed with enough moisture that a few showers will be possible in the afternoon, although they will be staying isolated and mostly along the coast.

There's very little change in the short term forecast, in fact this pattern will hold through the rest of the week and the weekend.

Monday will be the arrival of the front, showers and thunderstorms will kick off the work week with cooler, crisper air following closely behind it.
