Storms flaring up in north Acadiana

Showers have remained steady across Acadiana this afternoon, even producing a couple of strong/severe thunderstorms.

Several inches of rain have fallen in north Acadiana (some places up to 5-6") so flash flooding will be a concern through Evangeline, Avoyelles, and north St. Landry Parish.

Travel in these parishes should be avoided until the rain starts to ease up and water has a chance to drain.

While it looks like the storms are winding down and light to moderate showers are taking over from the heavier stuff, a few flare ups will still be possible.

Avoid waterways as both bayous and rivers will be running full and fast, especially some of the bayous that have been running hight the last several days.

This should ease up by the evening and getting quieter overnight into Wednesday.
