State Troopers investigating fatal crash in Duson

DUSON, LA- Louisiana State Police Troop I was called yesterday around 9:30 p.m. regarding a two-vehicle crash on Hwy 95 at the intersection of the westbound on-ramp of I10 that claimed the life of 17-year-old Nathan L. LeBlanc.

Preliminary investigation revealed LeBlanc was driving a 2007 Harley- Davidson motorcycle southbound on LA 95 around the same time Mary Baptist of Jennings drove her 2012 GMC Yukon heading north on LA 95. Batiste entered the lane trying to turn left onto the westbound on-ramp of I-10 striking LeBlanc on the right side of her vehicle.

Despite wearing a DOT-approved helmet, LeBlanc suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Batiste submitted a breath sample which showed no use of alcohol in her system. A blood sample from both LeBlanc and Batiste was submitted for analysis.

The crash remains under investigation.

According to Louisiana State Police Troop 1 PIO Thomas Gossan, A Tahoe traveling north from LA 95 tried to enter the I10 westbound ramp and hit the motorcycle.
