One man is in a hospital after an officer-involved shooting in St. James Parish.
Sheriff's deputies responded to a call in the 2000 block of Levy Gaudet Street in Lutcher. During the investigation deputies encountered 36-year-old Edward Young III and an exchange of gunfire took place shortly after. Young sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
State police were called in by the St. James Parish Sheriff's office to conduct an investigation.
Once Young is released from the hospital he will be arrested on attempted murder of a police officer, felon in possession of a firearm, and illegal discharge of a firearm charges. The two deputies that were involved in the shooting were not injured.
