Work detail is underway in Morgan City along the city's docks as river levels have now dropped.
Accord to the Morgan City Fire Department, a platoon is now out on the docks washing off dirt and debris that has accumulated while the river stages were high. Firefighters were out with hoses and other equipment to clean up the area.
The St. Mary Parish Office of Emergency Preparedness and Homeland Security says the flood warning was canceled for the Atchafalaya River at Morgan City on Wednesday.
At around 7:00 pm, the river stage was at 5.9 feet. Flood stage is 6 feet. St. Mary Parish OEP says that the river is expected to continue to fall to 5.8 feet by Friday morning.
