BALDWIN, La. - The Town of Baldwin has experienced problems with the water supply system due to a broken water main.

Water was shut off Monday morning to make needed repairs. Services have been restored.

As a precaution, the Town of Baldwin is issuing a boil water advisory effective immediately for the following areas:

Martin Luther King, Branch Street, Baptiste Street, and Labau Streets. (All areas are South of the Railroad tracks.)

This advisory is to remain in effect until rescinded by the Town of Baldwin.

It is recommended that all consumers disinfect their water before consuming it (including fountain drinks), making ice, brushing teeth, rinsing of food or using it for food preparation by following the procedure below:

Boil water for one full minute in a clean container. The one minute starts after the water has been brought to a rolling boil. (The flat taste can be eliminated by shaking the water in a clean bottle, pouring it from one clean container to another, or by adding a pinch of salt to each quart of water that is boiled.)

The Town of Baldwin will rescind this boil advisory upon notification from the Louisiana Department of Health.
