Here's a public notice from the St. Mary Parish Office of Emergency Preparedness:
St Mary Parish will have aerial mosquito spraying tonight 10-25-2020 between hours of 6:30pm to 8pm.
The aerial spraying conducted last night could not be finished due to low cloud cover. They managed to complete about 45,000 acres and are scheduled to fly again tonight starting about 6:30pm till completion.
This will cover the rest of the parish that have inhabited areas.
Please stay inside if you have any type respiratory problems during these hours.
They say that aerial application of insecticide is the most effective way to rapidly reduce the number of mosquitoes in a large area and does not present a risk to people, pets or other animals.
According to the Environmental Protection Agency, people may prefer to stay inside and close windows and doors when spraying takes place, but it is not necessary.
Any questions can be directed to St Mary Parish OHSEP.
