Robbery suspect tackled by good Samaritan in Morgan City

An alleged purse snatcher was arrested in Morgan City on Thursday after police say he robbed a woman and was tackled by a good Samaritan.

29-year-old Blaine Michael Ledet of Morgan City was arrested Thursday morning after officers received a call about a possible purse snatching at a local business.

Police say Ledet was tackled by a good Samaritan who detained him until police arrived.

Witnesses say that Ledet allegedly tacked a female victim to the ground, stole her purse and attempted to flee before being tackled himself.

According to police, Ledet was allegedly intoxicated at the time of his arrest and was found to be in possession of suspected marijuana.

Ledet was booked into the Morgan City Jail on the following charges:

  • Second Degree Robbery
  • Perpetration or Attempted Perpetration of Certain Crimes of
  • Violence Against A Person 65 Years or Older
  • Possession of Marijuana (1st Offense)
  • Disturbing the Peace Intoxicated

Police did not provide details on the extent of injuries sustained by the victim.
