BAYOU VISTA, La. — The St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office is asking for help from the public to identify a man accused of shoplifting on Feb. 6 in Bayou Vista.

According to a social media post from SMPSO, a deputy was dispatched on Feb. 6 to a shoplifting complaint at a local business in Bayou Vista. Personnel at the business had video evidence of a man who had been shopping in the business and had selected a JBL Speaker.

The suspect selected a large item from the toy section of the store and switched it for the speaker and headed toward the checkout register.

The suspect then checked out with the speaker, but only paid for the price of the toy.

SMPSO says that the suspect left the store in a late-model, white Pontiac with a gray colored front quarter panel.
