The State Fire Marshal's Office has arrested a Patterson woman who they say set fire to a vehicle that was located just feet from a bedroom where two people were sleeping.

Lecorya Nicholas, 34, was arrested on one count of Aggravated Arson.

Patterson Firefighters requested assistance from the SFM early on September 29 to determine that origin and cause of a vehicle fire located in the 900 block of Washington St.

Investigators determined the fire was intentionally set and that the vehicle was co-owned by Nicholas and her ex-boyfriend, who had been sleeping less than ten feet from where the vehicle was set on fire. Through witness statements, it was learned that there had been several incidents reported to Patterson Police in the past few months involving the couple.

Nicholas was identified as the suspect in the case and a warrant was obtained for her arrest. She was later located by Addis Police, with evidence of burn injuries, and transferred to the St. Mary Parish Jail for booking in connection with the case.
