A 60,000 square-foot, state of the art Wellness Center is set to be developed at Franklin Foundation Hospital in St. Mary Parish.

According to State Senator Bret Allain, the facility will be located between the Franklin Foundation Hospital Medical Office building and the railroad on Northwest Blvd.

The new development is expected to to offer Orthopedics, Cardiology, Outpatient Physical-Occupational-Speech Therapy Services, Outpatient Cardiac Rehab, and Senior Behavioral Health services.

Allain says that matching Federal FMAP funds and state funds were secured to help build the wellness center.

"This facility will be the first of its kind in our area and I couldn't be more excited about the benefits it will bring to our residents," Sen. Allain said in a press release. "The addition of this new Wellness Center to the hospital means that the people in our community will have local access to the preventative, specialized care they need. It will promote overall healthcare outcomes through early intervention and lifestyle changes, reducing dependency on expensive, emergency care."

The Wellness Center addition is expected to open in the next 18 to 24 months.
