Morgan City Mayor Frank Grizzaffi III says that the city is working to bring it's citizens back on line.

Grizzaffi says that five additional contractors have been acquired to get on top of the situation and get the city 100 percent back on.

The mayor says that crews are working through several major issues to restore power to citizens.

The city saw major damage from high winds as Barry moved on shore Sunday, July 13 as a Category 1 Hurricane. Several power poles were downed in the city and homes were damaged by falling trees. KATC's Katie Easter was stationed in Morgan City as Barry made landfall.

Cleco also has crews in St. Mary Parish helping to bring over 6,000 customers back on.

On Monday morning, Cleco reported that around 40,000 customers had power restored.
