A man has died and another remains in critical condition following a party bus accident on Saturday.

The Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office says that 21-year-old Austin Jenkins died from injuries sustained from the incident on a party bus. His brother, 19-year-old, Denver Jenkins, is still listed in critical condition. The two have been identified in multiple social media posts as brothers from the Berwick area.

Deputies say that the incident happened at 4:00 a.m. on Saturday February 8, 2020, along Airline Highway, south of I-10. The Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office says that the two men were on a party bus and believed the two may have allegedly jumped from the back of the bus.

Other reports say that the two fell from the party bus, but Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office has not clarified.

They say that around 40 young adults were attending a party on the bus which was traveling back to Thibodaux from Baton Rouge at the time of the incident.

On Wednesday Sheriff Bobby Webre said the incident was a tragic accident. "Preliminary investigation indicates there is no sign of foul play and appears to be a tragic accident."

This investigation is ongoing.
