Man arrested for violating protective order days after being accused of attempted murder

A Morgan City man who was arrested for violation of a protective order nine days after being accused of attempted murder.

Morgan City Police Department received a complaint of a violation of a protective order, according to the Morgan City Arrest Report.

Officers learned Troy D. Watson, 58, contacted an individual who had an active protective order against him.

Officers were able to secure an arrest warrant for Watson during the investigation and located him in Amelia with the assistance of the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office.

He was transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.

On May 22, 2020, Watson was arrested for attempted second degree murder after shooting a woman.
