The Morgan City Fire Department is investigating an overnight fire on Garber Street.
The Department said firefighters were called to a home at around 10:00 pm. The call was in reference to smoke coming from the home.
Once on scene, firefighters observed heavy fire and smoke at the residence.
According to Fire Chief Alvin Cockerham, one person lives in the home but was not there at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported.
The home is believed to be a total loss.
An investigation into the cause of the fire is currently underway.
