A month-long food tour in St. Mary Parish will take the place of the 85th annual Shrimp & Petroleum Festival and offer a taste of festival favorites.

This year's festival, which is held annually during the Labor Day weekend, was canceled in early July due to COVID-19 concerns.

On Friday, August 7, the Cajun Coast Visitors and Convention Bureau will kick off the "Spirit of the Fest Food Tour." The tours ends September 7.

A list of foods enjoyed each year by festival-goers can be downloaded online at the Visitors Center website.

The visitors center says that those participating in the tour can visit any St. Mary Parish restaurant and order one of the listed items that reminds them of the festival.

After marking off 10 items, forms can be dropped off at the Visitors Center at 900 Dr. MLK Blvd, in Morgan City. They can also be mailed to P.O. Box 2332, Morgan City, 70381.

Forms must be submitted by September 8 to be entered to win several gift items.
