ST. MARY PARISH — With a heat index of about 105, Independence Day 2019 was extremely hot.
Water warnings and advisories along the Gulf Coast, meant finding a place to cool off was a challenge. Just in time for the holiday, the water advisory at Cypremort Point was lifted.
"We had a little questions about it with the bacteria and all. We heard that it wasn't that bad here, so we said screw it, lets go," Ross Hebert said.
Like the Hebert family, other families were happy for the cleared advisory and spent the day in the water.
Some families cooked out, while others went for a swim and took their boats and jet skis out for the day.
Although the water was cleared for a good time, there was still one thing that everyone was waiting for. Fireworks!
