St. Mary Parish deputies are investigating a shooting death that happened early Saturday.
Deputies responded to a call of a shooting at about 12:30 a.m. They found that a woman had been shot. She was taken to a local hospital, where she later died, Sheriff Blaise Smith said.
Detectives are investigating the incident as a homicide.
