A body found this week on Charenton Beach Road in St. Mary Parish has been identified as a New Iberia man.
Sheriff Blaise Smith says that the body found in a bar pit on Charenton Beach Road has been identified as 25-year-old Christopher Olivier, Jr., of New Iberia.
The St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office received a call on Tuesday, July 14, 2020, regarding Olivier who was missing. Later in the evening, deputies located a man’s body, now identified as Olivier, in the water in a bar pit near the area where Olivier’s vehicle had been found.
Foul play is not suspected. The Sheriff's office says the death is believed to be accidental but has not been determined.
The incident remains under investigation and standard toxicology test results are pending.
