MORGAN CITY — A Bayou Vista woman has been arrested for allegedly taking more than $100,000 from a victim in her 80s.
Police say 42-year-old Kristy Jones was arrested on a warrant that stemmed from a complaint filed on November 7, 2019. She is accused of allegedly taking $105,962 from a woman in her 80s. That theft, police say, took place over multiple occasions beginning in July of 2019.
The theft of money was in the form of 78 checks that the victim wrote out to Jones, Morgan City Police confirm to KATC.
An warrant was obtained and Jones was arrested on Monday, January 7 and she was booked into the Morgan City Police Department on the following charges:
- Theft over $25,000.00
- Exploitation of the Infirmed
Jones' bond was set at $100,000.
