A woman has been arrested in Breaux Bridge accused of impersonating a police officer.

Assistant Police Chief Terry Latiolais says that 48-year-old Christina Macdonald was arrested after initiating a traffic stop in the city. Latiolais says that Macdonald flashed a badge at another driver prompting the stop. He could not provide specific details on the incident.

During the stop, Breaux Bridge Police were called where they determined that Macdonald was not an officer.

Latiolais says that an investigation is still ongoing and would not provide the name of the police department badge that Macdonald had on her or if it was an official badge but clarified that it was not a Breaux Bridge Police Department badge.

He could also not say how she came to have that badge. An investigation is ongoing.

She was arrested and booked into the SMPCC on a charge of Fraudulent Portrayal of a Law Enforcement Officer.
