A location and time has been set for a town hall put on by St. Martinville Mayor Melinda Mitchell.

Mitchell announced she would be hosting a town hall last month following discussion of her position as mayor becoming part-time. Read more here.

At the time, no location and time was set.

The residents are asked to join Mitchell and other local and regional leaders to share information concerning the community and current charter.

The town hall will be held at the St. Martinville Festival Grounds located at 200 E Madison Street on Saturday October 17 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm

Masks must be worn by everyone in attendance and social distancing measures will be in place. Those attending are asked the bring their own lawn chairs.

The Daily Iberian reports that council members are upset that the mayor is going beyond the council to discuss these matters with the public. Councilman Fuselier raised questions about the purpose of the meeting including whether or not city employees and funds would be used.
