The Teche Center for the Arts is inviting families to attend the Courir des Enfants Mardi Gras on Monday, February 24.
The run meets in front of St. Bernard Chruch in Breaux Bridge at 9:30 am.
Children will parade with their families through the streets decked out in Mardi Gras costumes while singing and playing Cajun music on fiddles, guitars, and percussion. Per tradition, the children will beg for and receive gumbo ingredients from homes along Washington Street skirting Bayou Teche.
A chicken chase and catch will take place along the parade route.
Participants are invited to partake in gumbo and dancing afterwards at Teche Center for the Arts, located at 210 E. Bridge Street. Children, parents, and grandparents are welcome to share in Lundi Gras Party festivities.
Admission is $5 per person and can be paid at the start of the event, at the TCA door, or online.
