The St. Martinville City Council plans its regular meeting today at 6 p.m. at City Hall.

Things might look different, though, because several city employees are in quarantine. As we reported Sunday, Mayor Melinda Mitchell has tested positive for COVID-19 and several employees who have been in proximity to her - including Police Chief Ricky Martin, the chief administrator and her secretary - are in quarantine.

When we reached out to Mitchell, she had no comment. But Martin said he is holding meetings remotely and staying home until he can get tested.

If you'd like to attend the meeting, you should know that occupancy of the chambers is limited to 50 percent of the usual, and you must wear a mask.

Among the items on the agenda are introductory ordinances to amend the current year's budget, and to adopt next year's budget. There's also a motion to change the date on the next meeting so that the 20-21 fiscal year budget can be adopted prior July 1.
