The City of St. Martinville is asking all water customers to conserve water as much as possible.

Residents are asked to take the following steps for the next 24 hours to help reduce demand pressure put on the water system during the cold weather.

  • Turn of all taps that you had running in order to prevent pipes from freezing.
  • If you have broken pipes, shut off the water supply until they are fixed. If you have the ability to isolate the leak by turning off a valve, do so. If not the shut off the water supply at the shut off valve on the customer side of the water meter. If your home doesn’t have a shutoff valve call Public Works at 337-394-2237 and a technician will be dispatched to shut it off at the meter.
  • Do not use your dishwasher or washing machine.

These measures are required to allow the water system pumps to catch up and replenish the city’s water storage towers.”
