The St. Martin Parish School Board has voted to delay the start of school to September 8.
Members approved the delay in a special meeting called for Friday afternoon.
On the table were three options - delaying the start to September 8, delaying the start to August 31, or continuing with a start date of August 17 as previously approved. Option 1 was approved; students will start classes on September 8 and employees will report to work on August 25.
Also on the agenda was a motion to allow school employees to wear scrubs during the pandemic. That item did not pass, so staff will be required to follow the regular district approved dress code.
