St. Martin Parish Fire District, along with various surrounding agencies, responded to two structure fires Wednesday afternoon.

Crews were called to the 1000 block of Orphe Road in St. Martinville shortly before 1 p.m., where they found an abandoned residence engulfed in flames.

Over 15 firemen from St. Martinville, Catahoula, Coteau Holmes, and St. Martin Parish Fire District responded to the call. St. Martin Parish Fire Coordinator Brody Miller said it took crews around 35 minutes to get the fire under control.

The home is a total loss and was not occupied at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported.

St. Martin Parish firefighters responded to a second structure fire in the 2000 block of Berard Dumatrait Rd. Miller said firefighters from Breaux Bridge assisted in putting out the fire, which was in a shed.

The fire was under control within minutes, and there were no injuries at the scene.
