A correctional officer with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office has been arrested, accused of fraudulently obtaining food stamps.

On Tuesday, deputies say that information was received by the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office in reference to a potential fraud complaint involving a Correctional Officer. The employee, identified as 29-year-old Kaneshia Francis of St. Martinville, was immediately placed on administrative leave, and a criminal investigation was initiated.

As a result of the investigation, detectives arrested Francis for allegedly forging a document and providing false information in an attempt to fraudulently obtain food stamp benefits.

She was booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center. Francis' employment with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office was terminated.
