A ribbon cutting was held on Monday, September 14 in Breaux Bridge to celebrate the official completion of the LA 31 overlay project.
City and parish officials were on hand to cut the ribbon at 9:00 am.
The $1.6 million project saw many improvements to the roadway including a complete resurfacing, drainage improvements and an added bike lane.
Traffic signals were also updated along the roadway to include dedicated crossings and signals for pedestrians.
Officials say the project will increase the safety of the roadway for motorists, pedestrians and cyclists.
The Acadiana Planning Commission says that the ribbon cutting also kicked off 2020's United Infrastructure Week.
