A Lafayette man has been arrested in St. Martin Parish after a recent string of burglaries in Breaux Bridge.

Deputies responded to a burglary in progress at a residence on Earline Drive in the early morning hours of Tuesday, December 8. Upon arriving, they learned that several vehicles and sheds at residences on Earline Dr. had been burglarized.

An investigation began, and shortly before 9 a.m. deputies received information regarding a vehicle that was stuck in a field near where the burglaries had occurred. The owner of the vehicle was identified as 25-year-old Donald Celestine, Jr., of Lafayette. Deputies obtained a search warrant and located items linking Celestine to the burglaries.

Celestine was arrested and later booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center. He is facing eight counts of Simple Burglary (Felony). His bond was set at $4,000.
