Former long-time Mayor of Parks dies, funeral services set

A Funeral Service have been set for a former long-time mayor of Parks.

Services for 68-year-old John Lee Dugs Sr. will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, October 23, 2020, at Pellerin Funeral Home in St. Martinville. Dugas passed away on Monday, October 19, 2020, at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 7:30 am until 9:45 am. Interment will follow at St. Michael Mausoleum in St. Martinville.

Dugas was a lifelong resident of Parks, La. According to an obituary John worked in his Father's business, Randal Dugas Grocery, before becoming the owner and expanding it.

Dugas was mayor of the Village of Parks for 28 years until 2014.

His family says that he had a passion for hunting, fishing, and the outdoors, spending many of his days in the woods or on the water. He was also the owner of "John Dugas Hunting Club", a large hunting lease in Junction, Texas.
