Deputies: Five arrested after allegedly assaulting, robbing victim

St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Deputies have arrested five individuals in connection with an armed robbery last weekend.

According to deputies, the victim was leaving a party at a residence on Courville Road in Breaux Bridge shortly before 5 a.m. on Saturday, January 2, 2021. As the victim was leaving, deputies say he was physically assaulted and robbed by five individuals.

The victim sustained non-life threatening injuries, was treated at a local hospital and later released.

At the culmination of the investigation, arrest warrants were obtained and following execution of those warrants, five suspects were arrested and are now facing charges of battery and robbery.

Sherman Calais, 22, of Arnaudville, was charged with one count of armed robbery and second degree battery. Johnathan Taylor, 20, of Breaux Bridge; Shamar Calais, 20, of Arnaudville; Triston Meche, 19, of Breaux Bridge; and Rashaun Williams, 20, of Arnaudville are facing one charge of second degree battery and principal to armed robbery.

Rashaun Williams was also booked on unrelated charges in connection with outstanding warrants for previous offenses, including theft and simple battery.

All five were booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center on the above charges.
