Crews in Breaux Bridge are currently working to restore the water in an area of the city after a water line break.

That break according to mayor Ricky Calais is along Rees Street near the Waffle House.

Calais says the broken line which is an 8 inch line has affected the water supply to areas north of I-10 in the city. A contractor was doing work by the interstate when the line was hit.

As of 1:00 p.m. crews were able to pump out the water to the hole and expose the line. They hope to get the water back on for businesses and residents soon. No time frame was given.

The line break is affecting the business and residents around Wal-Mart and along Enterprise Parkway, Latiolais Road and south along Rees Street.
