UPDATE: Bridge Street in St. Martinville is clear for motorist

---------------------

St. Martinville Police say that Centerpoint Energy has re-established a perimeter near the site of Thursday's gas leak on E. Bridge Street.

Crews from Centerpoint Energy and the St. Martinville Fire Department have set up barricades to block traffic in the area. Centerpoint tells St. Martrinville police that crews were alerted that there was still a minor gas leak. They are working on that repair at this time.

No timetable on completion has been provided.

Barricades are installed at the following intersections:

  • N. CEMETERY ST (LA 347) & E BRIDGE ST (LA 96)
  • RESWEBER ST (LA 347) & BUCHANAN ST
  • LABBE ST & E BRIDGE ST (LA 96)

Police say they will provide an update when the barricades have been removed. Drivers should travel slowly through the neighborhoods that are being used as detours. Heavy machinery will be passing through the area during this time.

Motorists are encouraged to cross the bayou at Colonel Jeff de Blanc Parkway instead of E Bridge Street.
