Chaz Guilbeau, 22, of Arnaudville, has been arrested for setting fire to a relative's abandoned camper trailer.
Early on August 5, the St. Martin Fire District requested the assistance of the State Fire Marshal's Office to assist in determining the cause and origin or an abandoned camper fire in the 1000 block of Pat Street in Arnaudville.
The fire was determined to have been intentionally set.
During a follow-up investigation, witness statements identified Guilbeau as being seen taking items from the trailer after it burned.
Guilbeau later admitted to taking property from the scene and acknowledged evidence connecting him to the fire.
Guilbeau was then arrested and booked into the St. Martin Parish Jail on one count each of Simple Arson and Theft.
