Applications available for St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Scholarship

The St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office has announced that Sheriff Becket Breaux will award a $500 scholarship to a worthy student from the parish on behalf of SMPSO and the Louisiana Sheriffs' Honorary Membership Program.

The award will go to one graduating high school senior from St. Martin Parish; there are no restrictions on the purpose for which the scholarship is spent.

Applications must be submitted to Captain Ginny Higgins at the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office no later than April 1, 2021. The scholarship winner will be announced in May.

More application information: The scholarship is not a loan and will be awarded as a gift to defray the rising cost of tuition and related expenses in higher education. The only limitations are that the applicant must be a permanent resident of Louisiana; that the scholarship be utilized in higher education within the State of Louisiana, and that the student be enrolled as a full time, undergraduate student. Applicants must be eligible for admission to the school that they indicate on their application. The award will only be paid for attendance at institutions of higher learning within the State of Louisiana.

Applications will be available for pick-up at the Public Safety Complex located at 4870 N. Main Hwy., St. Martinville, LA. (between Breaux Bridge and Parks), and at the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office located at 400 St. Martin Street, St. Martinville, LA., or you may call the number below to request one be mailed to you.
