Opelousas will be hosting the Holy Ghost Creole Festival starting on Friday and continuing through the weekend.

November 1, 2019, kicks off with gospel music and good food for Holy Ghost Catholic Church. The festivities will continue through Sunday with a 5k run and local food vendors Free music entertainment will feature zydeco bands and other singers.

A parade will take place on Sunday, November 3. The route runs from Landry Street all the way to Union. Spectators may bring lawn chairs or a blanket to enjoy the parade.

Pastor Lambert Lein encouraged residents, "This is a family oriented event, so just come out and enjoy this time with one another...this is a moment where we can really show who we are as Creole people."

In October, Holy Ghost Catholic Church began celebrating its 100 year anniversary. The church kick-started it's year long celebration with a mass, live music and food on October 13.
